IWILL-India Women in the Lord's Labor
While helping his wife wash the dishes, a pastor protested, “this isn’t a man’s job”.
“Oh yes, it is” the wife retorted, quoting 2 Kings 21:13, “I will wipe Jerusalem as a man wipeth a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.”
Although women in India are being educated alongside men, there are many hardships that befall them such as unequal treatment in society, financial and emotional hardships on the home front, and neglect of their own health and wellness.
My husband and I found that given the right opportunities women become good leaders and help themselves and other women resist oppression and exploitation. So, we began to train women in the gospel, simple technology skills and microfinance to become self employed mission workers. Through IWILL (Indian Women in Lord’s Labor) we have trained women from over a dozen states across the length and breadth of India.
IWILL training is given at two levels: (1) a one month program for grass root women workers having middle school level education. (2) a six month program to train Master Trainers who have college level education. Our trainees go back to work among their own people groups. And are found to be more effective in reaching the Women than the men are.
