Training Women to Minister to Women
Under the IWILL (Indian Women in Lord’s Labor) program we have trained women from Orissa, Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, North India, Mizoram, Nagaland, Assam, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. Our training is given at two levels: (1) A one month program for grass root women (with middle school education). (2) A 6 month program for Master Trainers who know English well and are college graduates with prior training in Theology or Biblical Studies.
In the IWILL programs we teach topics such as the role of women in the church, women in the Bible, methods of communicating the gospel, health and hygiene, food and nutrition, physical exercise, family relations, moral values, kingdom principles and dramatization. We impart practical demonstrative training in a wide range of skills and technologies such as candle making, soap powder making, mushroom culture, agriculture, horticulture, grafting, poultry, animal husbandry, cookery, jam & jelly making, pickles, snacks, saree painting and embroidery. The training is rounded off with classroom and field training in microfinance and microenterprise.
It is rewarding to see that the women trained at IWILL have encouraged and strengthened women in their own villages and among their respective people groups. They now talk about following in the footsteps of Miriam, Deborah, Ruth, Esther, Dorcas, Lydia, etc. These women are forging ahead boldly and in deep faith to build their homes and communities.
